But it is Martens’ lyrics, emotion, and delivery that truly bring\u003cbr\u003eeverything together and help him stand out from his peers. There’s an infectious-\u003cbr\u003eness and pop sensibility in the writing that is executed with utmost class and\u003cbr\u003etaste, giving Les Imprimés the rare quality of immediate attraction that only\u003cbr\u003edeepens the more you listen.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHailing from Kristiansand, Norway, Martens plays nearly every instrument on\u003cbr\u003eFading Forward, produces and arranges the album, and of course sings. \"It's\u003cbr\u003esoul music, but I don't exactly have the soul voice,\" Morten explains humbly.\u003cbr\u003e\"But I do it my own way, in a way that's mine.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAlbum opener “You \u0026amp; I” is Morten's homage to his partner who sticks it out\u003cbr\u003e“through the chaos and the blunders” with him. Punchy drums and cascading\u003cbr\u003epianos make this one a proper two-stepper and an anthem for those lucky\u003cbr\u003eenough to find someone who understands them and helps in the parts of life they\u003cbr\u003eneed it. “Again \u0026amp; Again” slows the pace and deals with the heavier side of love\u003cbr\u003e\u0026amp; life as Martens professes his resilience through the mishaps, the heartbreak,\u003cbr\u003eand the let downs of love affairs gone wrong. “Untainted Love” brings the sweet\u003cbr\u003eside of new love center stage with a tune that plays on the title of the Gloria\u003cbr\u003eJones classic. “Get Lost” leans into the metaphysical with an invitation to leave\u003cbr\u003ereality behind and spend time with Les Imprimés, where there’s room to dream.\u003cbr\u003e“Only Love” is built over a gritty drum break with a chorus that is simple yet\u003cbr\u003eprofound, and the arrangement gives it the energy of a mantra. They turn to the\u003cbr\u003edancefloor on “With You,” an uptempo, uplifting tune about a fleeting encounter\u003cbr\u003ethat leaves you pining for more. Martens longs for her, but joyfully, as if just\u003cbr\u003eremembering such a connection is possible is what he really needed. Martens\u003cbr\u003eis joined by guest vocalist Ama Li on “Miss The Days,” a slow burning ballad\u003cbr\u003ethat reckons back to simpler times when love was in a better place. Fading\u003cbr\u003eForward closes on a wholly somber note with “Paradise”, a tune that wishes\u003cbr\u003efreedom and peace to a friend who passed away.\u003cbr\u003eIn the small town of Kristanland, Norway there is a huge talent who spent most\u003cbr\u003eof his life laying low and playing the background. Signing to New York’s Big\u003cbr\u003eCrown Records inspired Morten Martens to start sharing his own music.
