For Fans Of

Alan Tew's Drama Suite Part II is perhaps the most sought-after library funk set of them all, with impossibly slick, neck-snapping drums and heavy funk throughout. Highlights run deep, from the low-slung roll of "The Rub" to "The Fence," a slow, devastating groove with a bassline to die for, plus the creeping crime-funk of "Drama Backcloth" later sampled by Ghostface Killah. Across its links and scene-changes, it conjures how Roy Ayers making library funk in the mid-70s might have sounded. As with all Be With's KPM reissues, the audio comes from the original analogue tapes, remastered by Simon Francis with sleeve reproduction by Richard Robinson.
