Digitally remastered edition. Recorded at Studio Somil, Rio de Janeiro in 1972, this album was produced, arranged, and directed by the self-taught Arthur Verocai. Having previously worked with artists including Jorge Ben, Ivan Lins, and Celia, Verocai used this record to realize his vision in its purest form. The 29-minute masterpiece epitomizes the sound of Brazil at the time, with strings, guitars, pianos, break beats, basslines, synthesizers, vocals from Celia, and percussion from Pedro Santos, as bossa nova, samba, jazz, MPB, psychedelia, and funk sit side by side effortlessly. Its influence is reflected in the many artists who have sampled it, among them MF Doom, Ludacris, Common, Little Brother, and Action Bronson. This definitive reissue is taken from the Continental tapes, remastered in 2012 under Arthur's supervision.
