By the end of the 1970s Linval Thompson had cut out a successful dual career for himself as both singer and producer, and he moved into dub as well, getting further use out of rhythms from his other work. Dub had begun strictly as an album format with limited pressing runs for scene insiders, but it swiftly gained the interest of rank and file reggae buffs. Negrea Love Dub, originally released in 1978, is a cornerstone of the reggae dub scene. Thompson produced riddims laid at Channel One by The Revolutionaries, the celebrated studio band led by Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, mixed at King Tubby's studio in Kingston by Prince Jammy. The sound of these ten dubs is hypnotic and the effect euphoric.
