Richard D. James's fourth album as Aphex Twin, released on Warp in 1996, is the drill and bass showpiece. It carries forward the digital turn he started on I Care Because You Do, locking playful, almost nursery-rhyme melody into breakbeats programmed faster than a human could play them. Girl/Boy Song came out of these sessions, its sleeve using a gravestone marked Richard James, November 1968. Alongside the machine work he keeps sampling, looping and distorting real sound, human voice and physical instruments included. Heavyweight LP with paper inner sleeve, top-loading outer and a download card.
