Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 Vinyl LP
Classic Aphex Twin during the formative years of electronic experiment
- Official 2LP repress of Aphex Twin's 1992 debut, issued on Apollo and R&S
- Uses the 2013 remasters cut from the original DAT tapes by Matt Colton
- Some material dates to 1985, recorded to cassette on homemade equipment
Released in November 1992 on Apollo, a division of R&S, Aphex Twin's debut is the record that carried techno out of the clubs and into indie bedrooms. Richard D. James was barely out of his teens, and some of the material dates back to 1985, recorded to cassette on gear he built himself. What he made goes well past the ambient music of Brian Eno: lush, drifting soundscapes anchored to oceanic beats and basslines that still sound untethered from any particular decade. This official 2LP repress uses the 2013 remasters cut from the original DAT tapes by Matt Colton, in the original artwork.
