Limited 180g pressing of Massive Attack's 1991 debut, released on their Wild Bunch label through Virgin. Hugely influential, Blue Lines built breakbeats, sampling, and rapping into something far from traditional hip-hop, approaching the American form from an underground British perspective and folding in live instrumentation. It features the vocals of Shara Nelson and Horace Andy alongside the rapping of Tricky, and proved as popular on college radio as in the clubs. Critics hailed it on release as a blueprint for blurring the lines between soul, funk, reggae, house, classical, and hip-hop, a prediction that largely came true.
