With a Yamaha organ and a dream, Pops Mohamed began his journey in the mid-1970s as Black Disco's bandleader and composer, blending chill-out jazz with futuristic drum-machine sounds and spiritual overtones. His cosmic organ was joined by two of the most sought-after session players on the South African scene, sax and flute wizard Basil Coetzee (a soloist on the 1974 hit "Mannenberg") and young bass prodigy Sipho Gumede, and together they created a signature sound across a trilogy of innovative albums in a burst of studio creativity.
