Over a 20-plus-year career, Charlie Bereal has performed with and written for some of the greatest hip-hop and R&B artists of our time, among them Jay-Z, Aaliyah, Snoop Dogg, and Missy Elliott. Now he steps out as a solo artist with the reissue of his second record, 11-11-11, via Karma Chief and Colemine. Originally released in 2019, it was recorded over a few casual hangs in Los Angeles after Charlie invited friends Jairus Mosey and Raphael Saadiq to jam; he later shaped the best moments into songs, resulting in a soulful, psychedelic blend of original R&B in the spirit of Sly and the Family Stone or Funkadelic. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Pasadena, Bereal comes from a deeply musical family and started playing in his grandfather's church band at ten. This Grammy-nominated talent has more original music on the way from Colemine's Ohio studio.
