A member of The Roots, The Dap-Kings, and The Budos Band, he has lent his playing to everyone from Amy Winehouse and Lizzo to Lee Fields and Charles Bradley, and now steps to the front with a record that could only come from a seasoned veteran. Produced by fellow longtime collaborators Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon, who also play on the sessions, the A-side "Footwork" is a Latin-inspired dancefloor tune, while the B-side "Morning Glory" recalls 70s soundtrack music in the vein of Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man, pulling the best of the past into something clearly contemporary.
