One More is an important Japanese fusion album from guitarist Kiyoshi Sugimoto, a first-call player in the Tokyo jazz scene, recorded from July to November 1980 in New York. The session pairs Sugimoto's fluid guitar with an extraordinary cast: a young Marcus Miller on bass before his rise with Miles Davis, Omar Hakim on drums, Warren Bernhardt on piano and Fender Rhodes, and Shunzo Ohno on trumpet. The result glides between sleek jazz-funk grooves and lyrical fusion, the kind of deep Japanese fusion record crate diggers prize.
