Mista Sinista's first influence was his father, a DJ who spun old breaks at home, and he officially started DJing in 1986. Mentored by Dr Butcher and a pioneer of beat juggling, he joined the X-Men in 1992 and won first place at the 1995 DMC DJ competition, building a reputation as one of the best scratch and tour DJs in the world. He featured on the X-Men's debut X-Pressions, after which the crew renamed themselves the X-ecutioners and signed to Loud/Sony, releasing the groundbreaking turntablism album Built From Scratch in 2002. His cuts appear on classics like The Beatnuts' Street Level and Common's Resurrection, and he has toured the world and DJed for Common, The Beatnuts, and Lauryn Hill. ReBorn is his solo statement, a showcase of that championship-level turntablism.
