By the 1980s the affordable, easily duplicated cassette had become a revolutionary medium in Egypt, letting artists absorb disco, funk, and synth-pop and adapt them to local Arabic traditions, music played at home, in cars, and at weddings. Most tracks make their vinyl debut here, featuring Ammar El Sherei, Al Massrieen, Hamid El Shaeri, and more, remastered with a two-page insert of original cassette artwork and liner notes.
