For Fans Of

Also known as Bear's Choice, this was the Dead's first archival release, assembled by original soundman Owsley Bear Stanley as a tribute to Pigpen not long after his passing. Drawn from Fillmore East shows Bear recorded in 1970, it catches the band at a hinge point, one side of early acoustic Dead and one of electric blues and rock and roll, with Pigpen leading the charge. Remastered by David Glasser from the original analog two-track tapes using Plangent Processes.
