For Fans Of

In 1968, three sisters from Fremont, New Hampshire, Dot, Betty, and Helen Wiggin, formed The Shaggs at the insistence of their father Austin, who was convinced a palm reader's prophecy meant his daughters were destined for stardom. Their sole album, Philosophy of the World, was recorded in nearby Revere, Massachusetts, a collection of garage-rock tunes balancing charm and discordance in equal measure. Ignored on release, it was rediscovered and reissued in 1980, and has been polarizing listeners ever since. Frank Zappa called them better than The Beatles, and Kurt Cobain ranked the album among his fifty favorites. This is the Light in the Attic reissue on yellow smoke vinyl.
