Multi-GRAMMY award winning virtuoso bassist & singer Thundercat returned on April 25, 2023, with his first piece of new music since GRAMMY winning album It Is What It Is (March 2020), the collaborative single “No More Lies” with Tame Impala. Off the back of the single’s major success, Thundercat & Tame Impala will be releasing a limited edition 7” cheetah-print vinyl of the track.
Thundercat will embark on his biggest headlining tour yet this September / October, across North and South America, including stops in New York City (2x Brooklyn Mirage), Los Angeles (Greek Theatre), Denver (Red Rocks), Chicago (Salt Shed), Santiago, Rio de Janeiro and more. This is following his 35+ dates in support of the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers on their stadium tour.
"No More Lies" debuted on several Billboard charts following its release including #18 on Hot Alternative Songs, #23 on Hot Rock Songs and #26 Hot Rock & Alternative Songs.
The track received fantastic press looks from US & UK outlets like Pitchfork (track review + news + lead newsletter + social post), Rolling Stone US (interview + news), Complex, Hypebeast, MTV, TMZ, Consequence of Sound, The FADER, Stereogum, Spin, NME, DIY Mag and more.
Thundercat was featured on the title track and lead single from the Gorillaz latest album “Cracker Island” which went #3 on the Billboard Album Charts, and the song hit #1 on the Mediabase Alternative Charts in July 2022. Press pickup from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Paper, NME, Hypebeast, Consequence of Sound, NPR and more. Thundercat also starred in the official video and performed with Gorillaz at the 2022 MTV European Music Awards ceremony.
Other previous collaborations include Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak), Kaytranada, Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Travis Scott, Pharrell, Herbie Hancock, HAIM and more.
