Cross is the 2007 debut from Justice, the Parisian duo of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, and the record that put Ed Banger's distorted, rock-loud take on French touch in front of the whole world. Built from crunched-up disco samples, church-organ drama and synths pushed well into the red, it hits as hard on headphones as it does in a club. "D.A.N.C.E." brings the playground chant, "Genesis" opens like a stadium entrance and "Waters of Nazareth" grinds until the speakers beg for mercy. A double LP import that still sounds like a party breaking out.
