Robocop is a cult '80s action movie. Directed by Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Total Recall), and starring Peter Weller, Robocop tells the story of a terminally wounded cop in a dystopic and crime-ridden Detroit who returns to the force as a powerful cyborg haunted by submerged memories.
Robocop features an amazing score by Basil Poledouris (Conan The Barbarian, The Hunt For Red October). Poledouris used both synthesized and orchestral music as a mirror to the man-versus-machine theme of the movie. The score alternates brass-heavy material, including the RoboCop theme and ED-209's theme, with more introverted pieces for strings, such as during RoboCop's homecoming scene. The music was performed by the Sinfonia of London, conducted by Howard Blake and Tony Britten.
