Fly is the 1999 album from the Chicks, then the Dixie Chicks, and the record where Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer took a bigger hand in the songwriting. Produced again by Blake Chancey and Paul Worley, it blends fiddle and banjo bluegrass chops with bright, sharp-witted country-pop. "Ready to Run" opens at a gallop, "Cowboy Take Me Away" is pure longing, "Without You" and "Cold Day in July" slow things down, and "Goodbye Earl" remains a gleefully dark revenge tale. It won Best Country Album and still sounds fresh.
This double vinyl edition is remastered from the original analog sources and includes a digital download.
