Blood Orange - Negro Swan Vinyl LP
Dev Hynes' most personal record, soft-focus R&B for late nights
- Vinyl pressing of Blood Orange's 2018 fourth album Negro Swan on Domino
- Dev Hynes's most introspective LP, exploring depression, identity, and joy through layered indie R&B
- Features Puff Daddy, A$AP Rocky, Project Pat, Tei Shi, and Janet Mock
Negro Swan is Dev Hynes' fourth album as Blood Orange, released on Domino in 2018, and his most personal: a woozy, late-night meditation on Black depression, queer identity and finding joy anyway. Hynes plays nearly everything himself, stitching soft-focus R&B, gospel touches and sax-drenched funk into a single flowing piece, with writer and activist Janet Mock's spoken passages tying it together. "Charcoal Baby," "Jewelry" and "Saint" are the centerpieces, and "Chewing Gum" brings A$AP Rocky and Project Pat into the haze. A modern R&B essential, pressed across two LPs.
