Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band - Bongo Rock (Import) Vinyl LP
Where would hip-hop be without this album?
- The 1973 album behind Apache, the break Kool Herc played at the earliest Bronx parties
- 2021 Italian pressing on Use Vinyl Records, a single LP carrying all eight tracks
- Includes Let There Be Drums, Bongolia, Last Bongo in Belgium and Bongo Rock '73
Bongo Rock is the record hip-hop was built on. Michael Viner assembled a loose studio crew in 1973, turned them loose on covers and originals alike, and somewhere in the middle of "Apache" its drum break became the one that producers kept coming back to. Kool Herc played it at the Bronx parties that started everything, and it has been running underneath records ever since. "Let There Be Drums", "Last Bongo in Belgium" and "Bongolia" carry their own weight. This is the 2021 Italian pressing on Use Vinyl Records, a single LP carrying the full eight track album.
