Larry H. Jordan, an ordained bishop, and his brother-in-law Frank Tinsley built Enlightment in early-eighties Washington DC around an idea nobody else was chasing: modern R&B production carrying gospel messages. Their 1984 debut got radio play across the country and then vanished, because the distributor and the pressing plant both folded before the records reached stores. Only a handful ever circulated, and by 2000 collectors were paying four figures for one. Nature Sounds gives it a proper release with new liner notes and rare photos.
