El Michels Affair - Enter the 37th Chamber Vinyl LP
THE album of Wu-Tang funk covers. Recommended.
- Truth & Soul vinyl pressing of El Michels Affair's 2009 album Enter the 37th Chamber
- Brooklyn instrumental funk reimaginings of Wu-Tang Clan classics from Leon Michels and crew
- Includes Bring Da Ruckus, C.R.E.A.M., and 4th Chamber
Enter the 37th Chamber is El Michels Affair's 2009 album of Wu-Tang Clan interpolations, and it still sounds like nothing else on the shelf. Led by saxophonist and organist Leon Michels, the New York band built its "Cinematic Soul" sound from session players who also worked with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, the Budos Band and Antibalas. After backing Raekwon and other Clan members on tour, they recut RZA's gritty classics as live instrumental funk, including "C.R.E.A.M." and "Bring Da Ruckus." Heavy drums, moody horns and organ: a must for hip-hop heads and soul diggers alike.
