Named in homage to Nile Rodgers, the trio made Cut & Rewind, their third record, soon after touring 2023's Silver, a run that brought praise from The Guardian, the LA Times, MOJO, and NPR and dates with Thee Sacred Souls. Recorded over a couple of short, intense sessions with their rhythm section, members of cult funk band Orgone, at Sergio Rios's North Hollywood studio Killion Sound, the album expands their palette with touches of Lonnie Liston Smith and the Lijadu Sisters. Across 12 tracks of pulsing disco beats, astral whistle tones, and earworm melodies, it lands as protest music dressed up as a sweat-dripping, body-moving good time, equally suited to the dancefloor and the demonstration.
