Acclaimed guitarist Julian Lage had long dreamed of recording a project with esteemed drummer Joey Baron and bassist Jorge Roeder. In March 2026, Lage brought the trio into the Village Vanguard for an engagement at the legendary club and, after a week of exploring new music in front of enthusiastic audiences, Lage decided to head straight into the studio to document how the music had evolved. Recording at Reservoir Studios in Manhattan gave the trio a chance to experience the music in a new way and focus on the essence of the tunes. Produced by Joe Henry, The Reservoir Sessions presents a 6-song set of original compositions and standards, including "Love Is a Many Splendored Thing" and the Ellington/Strayhorn ballad, "The Star-Crossed Lovers." Available on transparent orange 12" vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday.
