Ruff Draft collects self-produced tracks that make up one of the late J Dilla's least-known works during his lifetime. Released on vinyl only in February 2003, it stayed little-known to casual fans until Stones Throw's reissue. Recorded in the wake of a failed major-label deal, Dilla returned to solo recordings as a fiercely independent artist. The tracks here come from his original master tapes, where the previously unreleased "Wild" and "Take Notice" were also discovered, with detailed liner notes by Ronnie Reese and a sleeve by Jeff Jank.
