Fittingly, this is L'Impératrice's breakup album, trading the idealized romantic streak of Matahari for a landscape more anchored in reality. The band keeps its taste for dance, virtuoso bass grooves, vintage synths, and glittery melodies, but gives itself freedom to explore new terrain. Production comes courtesy of Renaud Letang, with Neal Pogue (Outkast, Stevie Wonder, Tyler, the Creator) on the mix.
