The 1969 follow-up to Silver Apples' debut found the duo digging into the far reaches of their songwriting psyches for a darker, more emotionally charged set of songs. Where the debut introduced a sound the world had never heard before, Contact is where they began inhabiting it with more urgency and experimentation. Sourced from the original master tapes, with an inner sleeve of unseen master-tape-box photos and the original controversial artwork: the duo in the cockpit of a Pan Am jet on the front, a plane crash on the back, imagery that drew a lawsuit from the airline. Their sound has gone on to influence countless bands, from Stereolab to Beastie Boys and Blur.
