Originally recorded in 1977 by a small battalion of teenagers, reportedly upwards of ten members, Gonna Get Your Cherry is eleven tracks of soulful, danceable funk. From the opener "Can't Hide the Funk," the skill of these young players is on immediate display, with tight vocal harmonies and a rhythm section you could mistake for performers twice their age. "Instrumental Soul" delivers a fiery saxophone solo and staccato guitar, while the B-side turns more soulful with female vocalists and a backing chorus. This P-VINE reissue includes the never-before-reissued track "In the Clouds," two boogie-flavored bonus cuts, and an obi strip.
