GZA - Liquid Swords Vinyl LP
Legendary solo Wu record, recommended
- Geffen vinyl pressing of GZA's 1995 second album Liquid Swords
- RZA-produced Wu-Tang solo masterpiece with chess and samurai themes throughout
- Includes Liquid Swords, 4th Chamber, Cold World, and Shadowboxin'
Liquid Swords, released in 1995, is the second solo album from Wu-Tang Clan's GZA, the Genius, and a high point of the Wu-Tang solo run. RZA's production is cold, minimal and hypnotic, laced with dialogue from the samurai film Shogun Assassin, giving GZA's dense, chess-like lyricism room to land. Liquid Swords, Shadowboxin' with Method Man, 4th Chamber and Duel of the Iron Mic are highlights, with the rest of the Clan dropping in throughout. Its standing has only grown, and many name it among the finest hip-hop albums ever made. Repressing of a classic.
