Album Facts
Al Green - I'm Still in Love With You Vinyl LP
Love and Happiness, and the Memphis soul formula perfected
- The 1972 album featuring 'Love and Happiness' and the title track
- Produced by Willie Mitchell with the Hi Rhythm Section
- Includes a soul reading of Kris Kristofferson's 'For the Good Times'
The follow-up to Let's Stay Together, and the record where Al Green and Willie Mitchell settled into the formula that defined Memphis soul in the seventies: Hi Rhythm playing soft and tight, Charles Hodges' organ underneath everything, horns that punctuate rather than announce. 'Love and Happiness' is the monument, six minutes built on one guitar figure and a tapping foot, but the title track and 'Look What You Done for Me' are just as assured, and the reading of Kris Kristofferson's 'For the Good Times' shows how far Green could pull a country song toward the church.
