Arthur Verocai - Arthur Verocai (self-titled) Vinyl LP
Self-taught musician has his first album sampled by everyone since
- Mr. Bongo reissue of Arthur Verocai's 1972 Brazilian self-titled masterpiece
- MPB-jazz-funk-psych blend sampled by MF Doom, Common, Ludacris, and Action Bronson
- Crate-digger holy grail and essential Brazilian music vinyl pickup
Recorded at Studio Somil in Rio de Janeiro in 1972, Arthur Verocai's self-titled album was produced, arranged and directed by the self-taught composer, who had already worked with Jorge Ben, Ivan Lins and Celia. Here he realized his own vision, a 29-minute masterpiece where strings, guitars, piano, breakbeats, synths and percussion from Pedro Santos let bossa nova, samba, jazz, MPB, psychedelia and funk sit side by side. Long a crate-digger's holy grail, it has been sampled by MF DOOM, Ludacris, Common and Action Bronson. Remastered from the original Continental tapes.
