The Melodic Blue is the 2021 debut album from Baby Keem, the Las Vegas-raised rapper and producer who co-founded pgLang with his cousin Kendrick Lamar. Keem produced much of it himself, and it plays like a restless mixtape of ideas: pitched-up hooks, abrupt beat switches, bursts of melody and sudden quiet confessions. "Family Ties," his Grammy-winning trade-off with Kendrick, is the headline, with "Range Brothers" as its wilder sequel and "Issues" showing the vulnerable side. Travis Scott, Don Toliver and Brent Faiyaz also turn up. A sharp, unpredictable debut on vinyl.
