At the start of 2024, BADBADNOTGOOD were brimming with creative energy. Fresh off international tour dates and sessions with artists like Daniel Caesar, Charlotte Day Wilson, Baby Rose, and Turnstile, the Canadian trio of Alexander Sowinski, Chester Hansen, and Leland Whitty headed back into the studio with close friends and Toronto jazz-scene players for an intensive week of recording in Los Angeles. The result is the Mid Spiral series, originally released digitally in three parts, Chaos, Order, and Growth, now collected on a double LP. The suites see the band return to their instrumental-jazz roots while cross-pollinating hip-hop, neo-soul, psychedelia, and funk into a deeply collaborative, expansive new sound.
