Album Facts
Blood Orange - Freetown Sound Vinyl LP
Dev Hynes' soul and art-pop collage, personal and political at once.
- Vinyl pressing of Blood Orange's 2016 album Freetown Sound
- Dev Hynes' sprawling, genre-melding statement of alt-R&B and art-pop
- A tour de force weaving his influences into a singular voice
Freetown Sound is the third Blood Orange album, written and produced by Dev Hynes and released on Domino in 2016. It is a tour de force that pulls his past, present and future into one voice, weaving soul, alt-R&B and art-pop with spoken-word samples and pointed reflections on race, faith and identity. Guests including Debbie Harry, Carly Rae Jepsen and Nelly Furtado drift through a sequence that plays more like a collage than a tracklist, with "Augustine" and "Best to You" among the standouts. A sprawling, thought-provoking record on two LPs.
