Boots For Dancing came out of Edinburgh in 1979 with a simple idea: take P-Funk, run it through the Voidoids and No Wave, and refuse to play anything that went one two three four. Dave Carson has been at the front of it since. The songs here are arguments as much as grooves, Hold Up Half The Sky borrowing its title from the Grunwick picket and Different From You? built on Winston Rodney's Social Living. It closes with a loose run at Funkadelic's Get Off Your Ass And Jam, recorded at the band's first hometown gig.
