It continues and expands the machine-with-a-heart sound she has shaped across 2019's Reward and 2022's Pompeii, increasingly playing and producing herself: guitars and saxophones pushed through pedals, voices fed through filters, an iridescent green-and-silver wash with flickers of David Bowie, Nico, and Laurie Anderson surfacing below the waterline. The result is an ever-changing song cycle, each track a shard of the same broken mirror, an exercise in the viscerality of life, love, and being exquisitely alone.
