Stapleton spent years writing hits for other people before Traveller arrived in 2015 and made the case for him as a singer first. Recorded largely live with Dave Cobb producing, it leans on a voice that can go from a murmur to a roar within a line, and on songs that take their time. Tennessee Whiskey, Fire Away and Parachute sit alongside the title track, and the whole thing sounds like a man who had nothing left to prove to Nashville. Across two discs.
