Common - Resurrection (Import) Vinyl LP
No I.D. loops, Chicago patience, and I Used to Love H.E.R.
- Common's second album from 1994, almost entirely produced by No I.D.
- Includes I Used to Love H.E.R., the title track and Breaker 1/9
- UK import pressing
Resurrection is where Common Sense became Common, and where a Chicago rapper made the case that the Midwest could hold its own against either coast. No I.D. produced almost all of it, building jazz loops that swing rather than plod, and Common raps over them with a density that rewards going back. I Used to Love H.E.R. is still the sharpest thing anyone has written about hip-hop drifting toward the mainstream, an extended metaphor that holds up thirty years on. The title track and Breaker 1/9 do the heavy lifting around it. A UK import pressing.
