Dinner Party - Whatchu Bringing? (Indie Exclusive Canary Yellow Color) Vinyl LP
Four heavyweights, one table, nobody hogging the solo
- Third full length from Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington and 9th Wonder
- Indie retail exclusive pressed on canary yellow vinyl
- Soul jazz built on trading leads rather than solos
Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington and 9th Wonder have kept Dinner Party loose on purpose: four players who could each carry a record, trading the lead instead. Whatchu Bringing? is their third full length, and the title doubles as the group's working method, everyone showing up with something and nobody hogging the table. Expect Martin's alto and Glasper's keys circling the same chord, Washington stretching a phrase past where it should end, and 9th Wonder's drums keeping it all conversational rather than ceremonial. Street date: October 30. This indie retail exclusive pressing comes on canary yellow vinyl.
