Jaku is DJ Krush's eighth album, first released in 2004, and one of the Tokyo producer's most distinctive statements. The title means tranquility, and Krush builds it from deep, slow-rolling beats and atmospheric space, weaving traditional Japanese instrumentation through his dark, cinematic take on instrumental hip-hop. Boston rapper Mr. Lif appears on Nosferatu, while Still Island, Road to Nowhere, Kill Switch, Beyond Raging Waves and Distant Voices show Krush at his most meditative. This Music on Vinyl 10th anniversary edition spreads it across two 180g audiophile LPs with an insert.
