Josh Davis built Endtroducing in 1996 out of nothing but records, mostly dug from the basement of a Sacramento shop, and the result still sounds like a film nobody made. "Building Steam with a Grain of Salt" opens a hole in the floor, "Midnight in a Perfect World" hangs there, and "Organ Donor" refuses to leave your head. Thirty years on, its influence runs through instrumental hip-hop, trip-hop and every producer who treats a sampler as a composing tool. This anniversary edition spreads it across two LPs.
