Skinty Fia is the third Fontaines D.C. album in as many years, the sound of a Dublin band now living in London and looking back at home with fresh eyes. Used colloquially as an expletive, the title roughly translates from Irish as "the damnation of the deer," its spelling anglicized and its meaning diluted through generations. Part bittersweet romance, part darkly political triumph, the songs form a long-distance love letter to an Irish culture in danger of going the way of the extinct giant deer, on tracks like "Jackie Down the Line" and "I Love You."
