Bandana is the 2019 second collaboration between Gary, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs and producer Madlib, the follow-up to 2014's Pinata and every bit its equal. Madlib produced the whole thing, famously building many of the beats on an iPad, and his chopped soul loops and hard left turns give Gibbs plenty to push against. Gibbs raps with menace and precision throughout, and the guest list is stacked: Pusha T and Killer Mike on "Palmolive," Anderson .Paak on "Giannis," Yasiin Bey and Black Thought on "Education." Add "Crime Pays" and "Flat Tummy Tea" and you have a modern rap classic built for the crate-digger's shelf.
