Freddie McCoy - Spider Man (60th Anniversary) Vinyl LP
Vibes, soul jazz, and one of the greatest covers ever printed.
- Freddie McCoy's 1966 Prestige session, on vinyl for the first time since
- Cool and soul jazz with Steve Davis, Rudy Lawless and Charlie Wilson
- All-analog 60th anniversary pressing on black vinyl
Freddie McCoy's 1966 session for Prestige has one of the great album covers and a record worth the sleeve. The vibraphonist works a cool and soul jazz groove with Steve Davis on bass, Rudy Lawless on drums and Charlie Wilson on piano, tight and unhurried through "Speak Out, Deagan!" and "Hav' Mercy". The back cover promised the first in a series of Marvel tie-in records; no others followed, and the original labels still carried the old title, which suggests the deal came together fast. Real Gone gives it a first vinyl reissue, cut all-analog on black vinyl. Street date: October 16.
