Freddie McGregor cut these sides for Earl 'Chinna' Smith's High Times label between 1977 and 1982, backed by the Soul Syndicate, and they sat as scattered Jamaican singles until FM gathered them in 1992. Natural Collie is the anchor, McGregor's Rastafarian rewrite of Norman Connors' You Are My Starship, but it opens a run rather than standing alone: Mission Impossible, Strange Things, Mark of the Beast and a reading of Love Ballad that earns the comparison. Soul Jazz remasters the set for a one-off cyan 180g pressing in the original artwork. Street date: December 18.
