Two cuts from Orient, Sato's third album from May 1979, lifted onto a seven inch for the first time. Karinba Night takes the A-side and the kalimba in the title is Sato playing it himself, over a rhythm section of Jun Aoyama, Koki Ito and Yuji Toriyama with Pecker on percussion. Don Kama takes the B-side in under three minutes. Sato wrote, arranged and produced both. It is a small record that does a lot, and it works as well on a dancefloor as it does at home.
