Watch the Throne is the 2011 collaborative album from Jay-Z and Kanye West, a lavish meeting of two of hip-hop's heaviest hitters. They set orchestral swells and progressive rock textures against lyrics wrestling with race, power, materialism, capitalism, and fame. Highlights include "No Church in the Wild" with Frank Ocean, "Lift Off" with Beyoncé, the Otis Redding-sampling "Otis," "Gotta Have It," and the arena-shaking Paris anthem that closed out countless shows. Big, glossy, and endlessly quotable, it captures both artists at full confidence. This double vinyl LP edition is a statement piece for any hip-hop shelf.
