Album Facts
Joy Division - Substance Vinyl LP
Singles compilation featuring original Peter Saville packaging
- London Records vinyl pressing of Joy Division's 1988 compilation Substance
- Career-spanning singles and rarities collection from the foundational Manchester post-punk band
- Includes Love Will Tear Us Apart, Transmission, and She's Lost Control
Substance is Joy Division's 1988 singles compilation, the companion to New Order's own Substance collection, gathering the Manchester band's essential singles and B-sides in one place. It is the go-to route to "Transmission," "Love Will Tear Us Apart," "Atmosphere," "Dead Souls," and the 12-inch version of "She's Lost Control," much of it never on the two studio albums yet as defining as anything on them. Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris transcended their punk roots to help shape post-punk itself. This 180g double LP repress keeps the original Peter Saville designed packaging.
