Follow the Leader is Korn's 1998 third album on Immortal and Epic, the record that took nu metal from the underground into the mainstream. It was their first without producer Ross Robinson, and Steve Thompson and Toby Wright gave the band's downtuned grooves a bigger, hip-hop-inflected punch.
"Got the Life" and "Freak on a Leash" are the anthems, the latter with one of the most famous scat breakdowns in heavy music. Ice Cube turns up on "Children of the Korn" and Fred Durst on "All in the Family." Essential listening for anyone tracing late-90s heavy music.
